Overview
Problem
Users needs to find a way to keep her travel information and budget all in one place so that she and her friends can collaborate.
Outcome
A platform that enables users to track expenses, itinerary details, and share their travel plans with their tripmates.
Understanding the problem
Research
Through 4 user interviews, we found that most people struggle with finding activities for their specific preferences and keeping track of their travel plans.
Key Insights
Once we had gathered the data from the user interviews, we were able to identify three main insights.
Specifying Preferences
Users struggle with finding activities for their specific preferences
1
Keeping Track
Some users found themselves frequently forgetting about plans and reservations
2
New Experiences
Users want to find activities that they couldn't see/find/experience back home.
3
How might we allow users to organize their travel information and budget while also enabling them to collaborate with their travel partner(s)?
User Persona
Understanding Our User
Once we identified these frustrations, we were able to compile all of our data from the user research to create a persona that fully encompasses the needs of our target users.
Initial Layout
Design Iteration
After wrapping up the research portion, we did two rounds of sketching to get a basic idea of the layout.
We wanted to find out if the layout and planning process was easy to navigate.
Invite Friends
Share itinerary details and get feedback from your trip mates on activities and dining plans.
1
2
Explore Activities
Filter through restaurants based on preferences and dietary restrictions.
3
Book Reservations
Invite trip mates to reservations and add them to your itinerary and receive alerts and reminders.
Mid-fi Wireframes
From there we created a mid-fidelity flow and conducted usability testing.
Final Design
Users can log in or create a new account to start their itinerary. They can search through guides for activities or search for local restaurants and filter their preferences.
After finding an activity or restaurant, users can add it to their itinerary and share details with their trip mates as well as add flights, accommodations, rentals, and documents to their itinerary for better organization.
Once we synthesized our data we discovered that our home screen navigation was not very intuitive and users struggled to find where to start a new itinerary.
Final Thoughts & Next Steps

Users also mentioned that it would be helpful to have a main navigation bar and more clear features.

Communication is key. I was very grateful to have been paired with such an amazing group of people who consistently communicated. It was a rewarding experience and I couldn’t be more proud of our final design solution.
